There's nothing like a feel good story, especially on the spookiest night of the year. My Halloween took a jolly, Christmas vibe turn when I heard from my little brother Aaron that one of my favorite basketball players had dropped 50 points in a game.
The return of Derrick Rose? For the Minnesota Timberwolves, they're hopeful. Me personally, I think anything's possible, but it's slim.
Point guard Derrick Rose lead his team to a 128-125 victory over the Utah Jazz Wednesday of Halloween. An impressive stat line, Rose shot 19-31 for 50 points, with 4-7 being threes. He also added four rebounds, six assists, a pair of steals, and a clutch block at the end of the game to secure the win, according to ESPN.com. Rose looked like his former self, with an exception to his hair.
I know not everyone's a Chicago Fan (I go to a school in Michigan, it is hostile at times). Rose will probably never achieve his former 2011 self. His body has taken a beating. What fans and non fans should take from this game is his hustle and heart. Rose has a little juice left in him, and is probably one of the few things going good for the Timberwolves this season (can they just trade Jimmy Butler?).
For a potential MIP or even Sixth Man of the Year, this was a heart warming story even the scariest of monsters could feel emotion for. Fans everywhere should hope Rose can continue to play like this throughout the season, even former fans of his hometown, who still rep #1 on their jerseys.
