Miami-Mia, that was a rough Sunday for the Bears.
It’s hard to be positive after a football loss. Now add on an overtime loss by 3, to a team that should’ve been taken care of, and ADD their starting QB was hurt, consider me an electron. (Oof, that was a brutal science pun. I’m sticking to sports).
The Chicago Bears suffered their second loss of the season last Sunday in an overtime thriller against the Miami Dolphins, 31-28. Despite the loss, there still is some positivity to take away from this game.
First off, those new orange uniforms are beautiful (hence the title). It’s a nice change for a new face team, and despite the 0-1 record in them, they were visually pleasing.
Hello, Kyle Fuller, welcome back to the Monsters of the Midway! After a game deciding dropped pick in week 1, the 2014 first round pick has come back and came up with two interceptions. Fuller was a big name to return from last year’s team and a returner to a revamped secondary. (Btw, last Bears player to have two interceptions in one game? Kyle Fuller his rookie year)
Trubisky continues to flourish after his Week 4 performance. His 22/31 completion rate and three touchdowns were solid and kept the offense flourishing. Yes, the young QB made some questionable decisions, but man did you see that 46 yard BOMB to Taylor Gabriel? Mitch is getting more comfortable in the pocket and making much better plays. Arm sleeve or not, Trubisky is playing much better.
I do have some grievances with this game. WHERE IS JORDAN HOWARD?! Listen, the Bears are a new team offensively with new weapons. But this guy is a back to back 1,000 yard season RB. A fumble was definitely not what I wanted to see, but lack of touches until OT is not good. The Bears need to establish him more in the run game, especially going against a much better Patriot’s team.
Overall, Sunday was a punch to the gut. However, I don’t believe the season is over. Chicago is a 3-2 team with a top ranked defense, an emerging QB, and the coaching staff to bounce back. A reminder that the Bears have lost by a total of 4 points this season. That’s not awful. New England is certainly a tough opponent, but this team should resurge back in their homeland of the Windy City.
