Spider-Man: Far From Home Reaction

Oh man. It's been a bit since I've gotten onto the old blog and written something up. Been a crazy week or so. It's time to get back to business. We're back!

Apparently Spider-Man is also back! That's right everyone, our beloved web slinger is getting his own sequel! The official "Spider-Man: Far From Home" trailer dropped Tuesday, January 15th. The trailer got roughly 130 million views, according to Deadline.com, within its first 24 hours. It's down below if you haven't seen it! (But seriously, how have you not seen it???)

To be fair, this is long overdue. Luckily, the young actor who plays Spider-Man seemed VERY willing to talk to movie producing company Sony about it. Thanks Tom!

After a successful first movie, it would've been crazy for Sony to not continue Tom Holland's story of Spider-Man. But wait, didn't we see our friendly neighbor crime fighter perish in Infinity War? (cmon. It's on Netflix. This isn't a spoiler at this point).

There are two possible answers to this: a) This movie takes place right before Infinity War or b) Spider-Man will return in "Avenger: Endgame". B seems more reasonable. Spidy has new suits we don't see in Infinity War (which we'll get to, because those suits are AWESOME). Also, he seems more in control of his powers, whereas in Infinity War he was just starting to control his "Spidey Sense". Lastly, no Tony Stark, his teacher, in the trailer. Let's just hope it's for other reasons and not because of an unfortunate end in Endgame (gulp).

Suits. SPIDER MAN SUITS! Look, I can't lie, the introduction of the Iron Spider Suit in Infinity War had me giddy in my movie theater seat. The Far From Home trailer reveals two new suits: a spin off of Spidey's old suit but with a black accent, and an all black, low tech suit. I am assuming that is Spider-Man's stealth suit, which assumably is going to be made by Peter Parker. As for the other suit, I'm guessing Nick Fury has to do with that (again, another character who probably survives Endgame and comes back. Just a prediction).

So, what else is new? Ah yes, VILLIANS! The trailer shows some sort of rock monster, fire monster, and water monster. Theories have said these are either the Elementals, or we could be seeing a reboot of Sand Man. Now, if Sony is going in the direction I think it is, and wishes to introduce the Sinister Six into a future movie, I can make an assumption these villains won’t have a single cameo. We know Vulture is still in prison (an original member of the Sinister Six). You sorta have to know your comic books on that one.

Jake Gyllenhaal has taken upon the role of Mysterio, one of Spider-Man’s most notorious villains. However, he appears to be fighting and helping out Spider-Man? A potential team up that leads to betrayal? IMDB.com says that “he (Spider-Man) is recruited by Nick Fury to team up with Mysterio to battle the Elementals”. I mean, with a lot of heroes out of play, it would be logical for Fury to be out recruiting.

Sony did an INCREDIBLE job with the Mysterio suit. It’s perfect. Spot on. Well done!

Besides a budding romance between Peter Parker and Mary Jane, played by Zendaya, this trailer really was a solid one. I have such high hopes for the future of this franchise. Until it’s official release on July 5th, 2019, super hero fans must spectacle as to what this film will bring.

Hold onto your phones, and stay updated for more Spider-Man news!
