The First Ever Blackhole Caught On Camera

Space is still an area that scientists are exploring. It's vast in size and our ability to travel beyond Earth's atmosphere is very limited. What we are able to do is capture images from up above, and the following image is something quite frightening.

Astronomers on Wednesday announced that they had captured an image of a black hole, which is so dark that not even light can escape its grasp. Below is that said image.

It may not appear like much, and for anyone who's a Lord of the Rings fan, this looks like the Eye of Sauron. As humorous as that is, this is literally sucking in all the matter around it. Black holes are a region of space having a gravitational field so intense that no matter or radiation can escape, according to Dictionary.com

The image was presented by the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration. By using a global network of radio telescopes, eight in total, the EHT was able to make, in essence, an Earth sized telescope. They first targeted Sagittarius A, which is the location of a black hole 26,000 lightyears away, and not your daily horoscope.

The EHT also targeted the center of M87, the name of another ENTIRE galaxy! It's incredible, the length that was taken for mere pictures, but until yesterday these entities were thought to be unseeable and unable to be captured on film.

Black holes are no laughing matter, as NASA still knows very little about them. Pictures often lead to videos, and so on and so forth, so it makes me wonder when we will have out first ever live footage of one of these terrifying forces.
