Triple Frontier Movie Review

Updated: Mar 20, 2019

Movie reviews become a bit of a challenge for a few reasons: costs of tickets, being able to analysis a movie in a theatre without anyway of taking notes, and finding a good show time to watch a movie and get a review done timely. That's why I love when a streaming system, like Netflix, releases original movies that I can watch multiple times in the comfort of my home.

Triple Frontier was released March 6, 2019 on Netflix. An R-rated, 125 minute film, this movie tells the story of a group of former Special Forces operatives who decide to take their military talents and put them to use for their own reward. Things take a twisted turn, and the group is pushed to the limit in a suspense filled, action packed film that had surprising and shocking results.

Triple Frontier got subpar reviews overall. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 72%, Metacritic gave it a 61%, and IMBd rated it a 6.6/10. What did Sam's Snippets rate it? Keep reading to find out!

I won't spoil specific details of this movie like I've done with reviews like Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse or Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. I will say that this movie is pretty solid and for those who like to be on the edge of their seats, this is a must watch.

The cast of this movie is incredible, as it includes Ben Affleck, Oscar Issac, Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunman, and more. Besides their excellent acting skills, the cast was able to speak to real Special Forces people, in order to make things as genuine as possible. So while the film isn't based off a true story, many parts of it are heavily influenced by the troops.

The narrative of the movie is a bit iffy, but the suspense and action allowed Triple Frontier to break away from the mold of a normal heist movie. In fact, this movie actually had quite a lot of surprises, some even I wasn't able to predict.

This film also dives a lot into human character and nature. What is more valuable: money or life? The characters come to grips with this at many moments in the movie, allowing for there to be an actual emotional response between viewer and movie character.

Overall, the Sam's Snippets score for Triple Frontier is a 7/10. With great acting, a strong cast, and excellent action and suspense that'll make your heart skip a beat, Triple Frontier provides Netflix users a thriller to engage with!
